FAQ'S

Can we bring our own furniture and personal belongings?

We encourage our residents to personalize their new home as much as possible. Pictures can be hung on the walls and you can bring in items such as throws or comforters. These types of personal effects help make your stay more comfortable. Each room comes fully furnished but you are also welcome to bring in some of your favourite pieces of furniture. This is the case for both our Retirement and Long Term Care Homes.

Does Caressant Care provide short-stay or respite services?

Our Long Term Care Homes do not have any short-stay beds, however, each of our Retirement Homes provide respite and short-stays if accommodations are available. Our short stay residents are charged the same rate as our permanent residents and are given the exact same services. You are welcome to stay a few stays or a few months.

How much do your Retirement Homes cost?

There are a number of accommodation options at our Retirement Homes. The prices vary according to location of the Home and the size and type of accommodation. Caressant Care is very proud to offer all-inclusive rates with no additional charges at each of our ten Retirement Homes. For specific pricing details contact the Home or Homes you are interested in.

How much does Long Term Care cost?

Long Term Care rates are set by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. You can access the current 2017 rates by clicking here. The Ontario Government does not pay the full cost of long-term care and expects residents to pay a portion of their “room and board” to the long-term care home. This is called a co-payment.

What is the difference between Retirement Homes and Nursing Homes?

The biggest difference is that the level of care provided at a Long Term Care Home is greater than at a Retirement Home. Local Health Integration Units make the decision on who is appropriate for Long Term Care placement after a thorough assessment while it is up to each of our Retirement Homes if someone is suitable for admission.
