Ruth Bailey comes to the Listowel Retirement Home every Monday morning to sing and she has been doing that for the last 23 years. Back then, she founded the Song Bird Choir where all the singers wore white tops and black slacks and would sing at special events such as Easter or Christmas for residents on the nursing home side.

Today, the white tops and slacks may be a thing of the past but what hasn't changed is Ruth's passion for music and people. "I get so attached to the residents I just love coming in. When we start to sing it just feels so good." On average, about 20 people fill the chairs on a Monday morning and they sing hymns for an hour. Ruth still fondly recalls one special outing to her church where the Song Birds sang hymns along with the church bells.

The first Wednesday of the month finds Ruth back at the home to lead bible studies. And in months with five Sundays, she leads a bible service at the nursing home.
