Randy has been a "Foodie" long before the term became cool in recent years. Since the age of 14, Randy has been working in kitchens discovering new recipes and indulging his life passion. Few are fortunate enough to turn their passion into a career they love.

"I have been around kitchens all my life and after graduating high school I enrolled in the Culinary Skills program at Georgian College in Barrie. And I have been working in kitchens as a Chef ever since."

Randy has been a Red Seal Chef since 1985 and has been cooking up delicious dishes at Caressant Care Lindsay Retirement Home for the past seven years.

"I have done pretty much everything to do with cooking and baking working in large quantity kitchens to smaller ones like we have here in Lindsay. I enjoy it all."

At Caressant Care, Randy is in charge of the kitchen doing everything from menu planning, ordering supplies, managing a small team of staff, clean up and serving residents. He likes making soups and really enjoys baking. He is also the home's Certified Health and Safety Representative, a designation he has held since 2007.

When asked what was his most memorable cooking adventure, Randy says "I had been working at a camp in Timmins when we got word there were 500 evacuees from a flood in James Bay coming to Timmins and we had to feed them all. We were closing down so I had to organize truck loads of groceries to bring in supplies to cook for all these people. I worked 21 straight days and most were 14- hour days. But it was a great experience."
