Caring for people runs through Melissa's family. Her husband of 26 years is an RPN and her daughter is a PSW who is studying to become a nurse.

Born in Chelsea, Ontario, Melissa has been caring for residents at our Harriston Nursing Home for 20 years and has been working in restorative care since 2006.

Restorative care focusses on helping residents who have lost mobility in their extremities regain some of that mobility while enhancing quality of life. At Harriston, there are many success stories including someone we recently featured on our facebook page - Heather Plourde.

"I love helping residents improve their health and mobility," she says. "I have been able to send four residents home following successful rehabilitation. It is a cool feeling seeing them get well."

Melissa studied nursing in London, Ontario and can't think of anything else she would rather be doing.

"I really like my job and the home I am proud to support."
