Toronto - Tina Driscoll, a 15-year employee at Caressant Care Marmora Nursing Home, has won a Personal Support Worker Leadership Award at a ceremony in Toronto as part of the Ontario Long Term Care Association's 2nd Annual Quality and Innovation Awards Gala.

"Tina is not just an amazing care worker but also a wonderful mentor to her fellow employees," says Administrator Cindy Brandt. She adds that Tina has "taken it upon herself to develop training and orientation guides to help new staff get settled and to get to know all the residents. She also treats every resident as if they were her own grandparent."

The Award recognizes individuals who have improved the quality, culture and value of resident care and who have consistently demonstrated excellence in problem solving, leading change and innovation and linking knowledge to practice.

Shelley Dole, a Personal Support Worker at Caressant Care Cobden, was also nominated for the award. "Shelley may not have won but we as a company could not be more proud of the contribution she makes every day to the residents in Cobden," says Lee Griffi, Manager of Corporate Communications.
