Nestled in the Ottawa
Valley, one of the most picturesque parts of Ontario, Cobden is a small
community close to Pembroke and about an hour north of Ottawa.
-
Caressant Care Cobden
was opened in July 2000....Replacing Lakeview Nursing Home in Cobden.
This facility became one of the first long-term care Homes to be built
to the New Design Standards set out by the Government of Ontario.
The new facility
now has 60 nursing home beds which are standard (2 people in a semi-divided
room ) or private with their own bathroom. Residents now live in
their own “Home” of no more than 32 Residents. Each Unit has a dining
room, activity/lounge areas, etc.
In addition to this
there is a large activity room for all residents to join together for events,
as well as a small Chapel for the use of residents and families.
Activities range from crafts, bingo, get fit, bible study, and Birthday
Parties, as well as outside entertainment is provided by local bands,
speakers, and other groups within the area.
Added to the Nursing
Home is a Retirement Home with private and semi-private rooms that can
accommodate 46 Residents, with a fireside lounge, and a dining room
that is spacious and airy with floor to ceiling windows.
The building is
structured around an inner courtyard with access from both the Nursing
Home and Retirement Home, offering Residents a quiet secure outdoor area
to enjoy.
Caressant Care Cobden
also was able provide space for the Cobden Public Library within the building
thus providing a close contact with the community itself.
Since Caressant Care Nursing
and Retirement Homes Ltd. purchased Lakeview Nursing Home and proceeded
to build the new Caressant Care Cobden to replace it, the Community has
been very supportive and an integral part of the day to day lives of our
Residents and Staff.
